Sometimes the simplest ones are the best, and this one reminds us that all these things need are a bit of time and thought. Shoe History Historically, shoelaces were made of leather, cotton, jute, hemp or other materials traditionally used in the manufacture of rope. The natural materials used to make shoes means that there are rarely historical records of them, and so the exact history of shoelaces is quite hard to determine. The Areni-1 shoe, which has been dated to around 3500 BC and discovered in 2010 is the oldest known example of a leather shoe, and clearly has lacing which passes through eyelets that have been cut into the leather. Adventures of the Small Business Owner

A postman always rings twice they say... Wrong. The Knitting and Stitching Show 2016

Strangely enough I've never been to a Sewing show before, there is usually work in the way, a show to prep for and I must admit, I've just not really been that aware of them existing. Since immersing myself more into the wider sewing community over the last couple of years (not just the costume world) I've heard so much about them that I couldn't wait to get my tickets to one this year at Alexandra Palace. I roped my sister into coming along too although she didn't take much persuading, she is a new sewer and keen to learn more....
